xplore helps app users discover independently owned local stores, coffee shops and services.  xplore enables users to connect in a meaningful way with their favourite independents, pay through the app, join their loyalty scheme and be the first to hear of events and offers.

the role.

You will play a key role in supporting the small and nimble team to deliver engaging marketing communications to external audiences, whilst also supporting the amplification of brand messages in line with xplore’s growth strategy.

The role covers a broad range of duties and applicants should demonstrate and evidence skills in digital marketing across a range of channels (social, website, email) and have experience in running email marketing programs and integrated digital marketing campaigns. Campaign measurement and reporting will be key.

Initially focus will be on driving member subscriptions in Bath and the Southwest, and encouraging users to download and activate the xplore app, xplore becoming part of their  daily routine.

role overview.

The website will be developed as a key marketing communications channel, with content being regularly uploaded and SEO optimised. This library of content will support users, inform members and become a valuable resource for independent business owners.  Content will be amplified through strategic use of social media, regular e-mail newsletters to both members and users and considered digital PR to build brand momentum. Integrated marketing campaigns will be delivered on and offline to drive brand awareness, drive member subscriptions and onboard users.  

role details.

Website marketing

  • ensure regular written campaign and brand content is uploaded to the website and optimised for SEO
  • look for opportunities to build external and internal website links to ensure content is well used and relevant to search enquiries
  • look for opportunity to develop backlinks from other sites to help increase domain authority and establish xplorelocal.com as the leading resource for independent businesses
  • help develop the campaign tracking protocol so that campaign effectiveness can be tracked across all media

Content marketing

  • help create and execute a multi-channel content plan that will drive awareness and engagement with independent businesses and app users across target towns and cities in line with growth plans. 
  • work across campaigns to ensure that marketing communications are appropriately supported with digital assets and that those assets are digitally optimised to help meet campaign objectives 
  • organise and managing the internal library of digital assets, to ensure the wider marketing team and media partners have relevant access to assets to ensure brand codes are upheld. 

Campaign management

  • be involved in briefing meetings where campaigns and work with team colleagues to ensure the appropriate creative, print, digital assets are delegated and delivered on time to achieve campaign deadlines
  • ensure the digital communications are optimised and well executed to help meet campaign objectives.

Social media & email marketing

  • create and amplify content on social media channels in line with agreed content plan 
  • set up and implement social media scheduling platform 
  • social media engagement across all platforms to help grow audiences in line with the marketing plan
  • write content for email, Linked in posts and social media captions in line with content plan

Reporting

  • gather post campaign data and report digital marketing success
  • share regular digital marketing insights with the wider team following training or self-guided learning to enable team growth.

background required

  • Passionate about independent businesses and use them whenever possible (if you're an avid Amazon user you won't enjoy working at xplore.
  • At least two experience demonstrated digital marketing experience across website, social media, email and intent marketing.

personal characteristics

  • be a strong brand ambassador for xplore 
  • manage and prioritise a fluctuating workload in a busy work environment 
  • confident and strong relationship builder
  • proactive, agile and enthusiastic learner
  • degree level with at least 2 years demonstrated industry experience in digital marketing
  • use your digital marketing knowledge to identify opportunities to generate excellent project outcomes in meeting campaign objectives

annual salary.

  • Between £28K – £30K pa depending on demonstrated experience. We are recruiting for a permanent position.

holiday.

  • 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays.
