The Tollhouse
Nestled along the banks of the Water of Leith in Canonmills, The Tollhouse is a thoughtfully restored historic building that now serves as a vibrant neighbourhood brasserie. Once a toll collection point for merchants entering Edinburgh, this two-storey venue combines heritage charm with modern dining. The upper-level dining room accommodates up to 40 guests, while the lower-level private space offers an intimate setting for up to 10 diners, complete with a bijou outdoor terrace overlooking the river .
The Tollhouse prides itself on sourcing quality, sustainable produce, supporting local butchers, fishmongers, grocers, and foragers. The menu, crafted by the award-winning kitchen team led by Claudio Cassatella in collaboration with Group Chef Martin Orr and Michelin-starred co-owner Stuart Muir, is inspired by the ever-changing seasons and updated monthly to reflect seasonal variations . Guests can also enjoy a curated drinks menu, featuring eclectic wines and innovative cocktails, some of which contribute to the Water of Leith Conservation Trust .
The Tollhouse is a business at the heart of the community, sourcing quality sustainable produce and the freshest of ingredients whilst supporting local butchers, fishmongers, grocers and foragers.
