Albatross cafe
Albatross Café is a cherished independent café-bar nestled at North Street in Southville. Founded by Imogen and Louie, the café's name and aesthetic were inspired by a transformative moment during their travels in New Zealand, where the sight of an albatross soaring at sunset sparked the vision for their establishment . Drawing from their experiences in Berlin, they introduced a unique blend of daytime café offerings and evening cocktails, creating a relaxed, community-focused space. The interior boasts vintage furnishings sourced from Berlin, complemented by abundant greenery and locally crafted pottery, fostering a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Patrons are welcomed into a warm, plant-filled environment where they can savor a variety of specialty coffees, including mochas and seasonal teas like rose and lemon fresh tea. The menu features an array of toasties, such as mackerel, goat cheese, and kimchi, alongside delectable treats like peanut butter brownies and vegan banoffee cake . Albatross Café is also known for its relaxed ambiance, making it an ideal spot for reading, working, or engaging in conversation. The café's commitment to community is evident through its support of local businesses and its role as a gathering place for neighbours and visitors alike .
We wanted to create a space that felt like a warm hug—somewhere you could slow down, connect, and just be.
